Dr. de Looze earned his MBBS from the University of Queensland in 1971 as well as an MSc in General Practice from the University of London in 1992 with his dissertation on the management of hypertension in British general practice. He has worked in Australia, Great Britain and the Middle East. He has also completed additional training, is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of GPs, and holds certifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Health Sciences Education. Over the years, Dr. de Looze has retained his passion for all areas of medicine, with particular interest in aged care, healthy aging, preventive care and chronic diseases. He finds fulfillment in both clinical practice and advancing research.
Dr. de Looze has successfully completed over 200 studies as Principal Investigator (PI). These studies span various therapeutic areas including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, infectious and vaccine preventable diseases which have contributed to significant advancements in medical care.
Prior to joining Momentum at Wellers Hill, Dr. de Looze gained extensive experience in clinical trials through initially setting up a clinical trials unit at the University General Practice at Inala and subsequently setting up his own business - Trialworks Clinical Research at Sherwood in Brisbane. Trialworks was acquired by AusTrials Pty Ltd in 2010 and became AusTrials in 2018. Dr de Looze continued as PI and was their Medical Director until AusTrials merged with two other clinical trial units to form Momentum.
Outside of clinical work, he enjoys a broad range of social and leisure activities (including lawn mowing). Unfortunately, he has still not found (made) the time to learn to play the saxophone.
