Chronic Kidney Disease & High Blood Pressure Studies

Do you have chronic kidney disease (CKD) and high blood pressure? You may be eligible to join a clinical study investigating a potential new combination treatment aimed at slowing CKD progression, reducing blood pressure and protecting long-term kidney health.

By taking part, you may gain early access to potential new treatment options, receive regular health checks, and contribute to medical research that could benefit thousands of people in the future.

Eligibility Criteria

You may qualify for this study if you:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have chronic kidney disease (CKD) with reduced kidney function
  • Have high blood pressure, even while taking medication
  • Taking a regular dose of a blood pressure medicine called an ACE inhibitor or an ARB (medications ending in ‘pril’ or ‘tan’. E.g., perindopril, ramipril, candesartan, olmesartan, telmisartan)

Other criteria applies. A member of our team will check if this study is a good fit for you.

Description

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long-term condition where the kidneys gradually lose their ability to function. Because the kidneys help filter waste, balance fluids, and regulate blood pressure, even mild to moderate kidney damage can have a serious impact on daily life.

For many people living with CKD, the effects go beyond lab results. Fatigue, swelling, changes in urination, and ongoing high blood pressure are common and can make it difficult to maintain the energy needed for work, family, and social activities. Some people experience nausea, poor appetite, or difficulty concentrating as the disease progresses.

Many current treatments manage symptoms but don’t significantly slow disease progression. That’s why new treatment approaches are urgently needed.

This study is exploring whether combining two medications could help protect kidney function, reduce blood pressure and  long-term health risks, and ultimately improve quality of life for people living with CKD.

The study is investigating whether an investigational medication that works to block harmful effects of certain hormones in the body, when an approved medication that helps protect the kidneys, can:

  • Slow the decline in kidney function
  • Reduce the risk of kidney failure
  • Lower the risk of cardiovascular complications like heart attack or stroke
  • Improve overall health outcomes for people with CKD and hypertension

What to expect

You will visit the clinic regularly for health assessments, including blood pressure monitoring, kidney function tests, and general checkups. Your safety and well-being will be closely monitored by a professional clinical team.

Why join this clinical research study?

  • Gain early access to a new potential treatment at no cost
  • Help researchers understand how to better treat and slow progression of CKD
  • Learn to better manage your condition
  • Receive health checks and advice from our professional medical team
