Atrial Fibrillation Studies Brisbane
Taringa Brisbane
Do you have atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat)? This condition can increase your cardiovascular risk. You may be suitable to join a clinical study to explore an investigational medication for people who cannot take standard blood-thinning medicines for Atrial Fibrillation.
By taking part, you may help progress the understanding of atrial fibrillation, receive regular health assessments, and help advance medical research.

Locations
Atrial fibrillation (also known as AF) is a common heart condition that causes an irregular or uneven heartbeat. This can affect how well the heart pumps blood around the body. As a result, some people may experience symptoms such as a racing or fluttering heartbeat, shortness of breath, tiredness, dizziness, or reduced ability to exercise.
AF can have a significant impact on daily life, particularly if symptoms are frequent or ongoing. In some cases, people may not notice any symptoms at all, but the condition can still increase the risk of serious health problems.
One of the main concerns with AF is the increased risk of blood clots forming in the heart. These clots may travel to the brain and cause a stroke, or lead to other cardiovascular complications such as heart failure. For this reason, many people with AF are prescribed blood-thinning medications to help reduce the risk of stroke. While these treatments can be effective, they are not suitable for everyone. Blood-thinning medicines can increase the risk of bleeding, which may be a concern for some individuals, particularly those with certain medical conditions or a history of bleeding.
This study aims to investigate a potential approach that may offer an alternative for people who are unable to take standard blood-thinning medications. The study medication is designed to potentially reduce cardiovascular risk in people with AF.
Please note that this clinical trial will use an investigational drug product, the safety and efficacy of which has not been fully evaluated by Regulatory Authorities, and which has not received marketing authorization in any country.
If suitable, you will be enrolled into the study and will receive either one of the study medications or a placebo, which is given as an injection under the skin (SC injection). You will have a 1 in 3 chance of receiving the Placebo. Study treatments will be given approximately every 2 weeks.
You will attend regular clinic visits for health assessments, including physical measurements, blood tests, and general health check-ups.
Your safety and wellbeing will be closely monitored by our experienced clinical team throughout the study.
